The soul has greater need of the ideal than the real for it is by the real that we exist, it is by the ideal that we live

Wednesday? whahappend to Tuesday?

I would swear I posted yesterday.  I had a post in my head and planned it all out, then apparently blew it while looking at houses on realtor.com

Changes abound around here this holiday season.  No idea why I'm unintentionally neglecting this blog.

But today there are a couple of issues.  First, you might want to take a look at the sidebar and watch the video of the 2009 beating of Jack Price in Queens.  It's difficult to do, but you should see it. I found it especially illuminating in light of the conversation I had recently with someone who contends that I'm paranoid and that very few gay men and women are beaten up, and IF they are they asked for it in some way.  (sound familiar)

The other is billboards.  My entire life I've traveled the highways and byways of America.  Billboards extolling the glory of the myth of Jesus and thus Christianity, line the avenues of America as though they sprouted whole from the ground.  Anyone with a grain of sense knows they and the whole story are made of whole cloth, and we should teach THAT in our schools.

But recently there seems to have developed billboard wars.

At one end of the Lincoln Tunnel the American Athiests bought a billboard that extols the proper and reasonable notion that religion is myth.  Days later at the other end the Catholic League, (lol) bought one that proffers the notion that the "virgin birth" was real.

"Joseph Zwilling, the director of communications for the Archdiocese of New York, said that while the Catholic League does not speak on the Archdiocese’s behalf, he thought the billboard “articulated the reality that Catholics and Christians believe in Jesus.” “Jesus historically lived, there’s no doubt about that,” Mr. Zwilling added. “He was a real person in a real time, and for Catholics and Christians we believe he was the son of God.” -via Joemygod

Let's see his birth certificate.

DADT repeal also won't change a thing in the military except that we'll acknowledge that gay men and women serve their country proudly.  How can that be a bad thing?

I say that's a perfectly fine house, how about u? (needs a gardener though)

If only it included the empty lot next door so I could stave off the possibility of...neighbors (ick)

and so it goes:

further proof I had a post for yesterday, I date the photos and this one was 1130.  I may be distracted, but I'm not crazy.
